Why This Matters
Radiotherapy saves lives, but it also creates complex functional impairments that affect swallowing, speech, voice, nutrition, jaw mobility, and quality of life.
Many rehabilitation professionals receive little formal education on these treatment-related changes despite caring for these patients throughout survivorship.
This complimentary Lunch & Learn provides an evidence-informed overview designed to help clinicians recognize common complications earlier and understand when rehabilitation may improve outcomes.
What You'll Learn

- Identify common acute and late side effects of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer, including oral mucositis, xerostomia, dysgeusia, fibrosis, and trismus.
- Describe the effects of radiotherapy-related toxicities on swallowing, communication, nutrition, oral intake, and quality of life in patients with head and neck cancer.
