Course Overview

This immersive weekend training provides clinically applicable, hands-on instruction focused on practical implementation. Participants will leave with ready-to-use tools, structured pathways, and confidence in managing complex head & neck cases.

Hands-On Techniques & Clinical Skills

Participants receive direct instruction and lab-based training in:

• Anterior & posterior manual lymphatic drainage
• Intraoral techniques for head & neck lymphedema
• Elastic therapeutic taping
• Scar management strategies
• Compression therapy, including:

• Creating homemade compression garments during the course

• OTC compression selection & clinical decision-making

Collaborative Learning & Clinical Integration

• Exposure to adjunct modalities supporting outcomes
• Collaboration with dysphagia-focused product partners
• Hands-on access to tools from ARKJ
• FREE access to ARKJ self-study course (including wedges)
• First-look access to upcoming tongue training device

Course Format & CEUs

Total CEUs: 24 Hours (ASHA-Approved)

Hybrid Structure:
• 4 hours online foundational lymphatic anatomy & physiology
• 20 hours in-person, hands-on instruction

Delivered over 2.5 half-day sessions

Instructor

Lauren Meffen, MA, CCC-SLP, CLT

Lauren is a speech-language pathologist with a passion for treating voice and swallowing disorders. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Florida and has worked across hospital, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient settings.

Over the years, Lauren has developed a specialization in head & neck oncology care, with advanced training in lymphedema management, trismus therapy, muscle tension dysphonia, and myofascial release techniques. She strongly champions a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach focused on treating the whole patient.

• Cancellations made prior to the course start date may be eligible for a full refund

• Refund requests must be submitted within 4 weeks of registration

• No refunds for failure to meet completion requirements

• If the provider cancels the course due to emergency or unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued

• Learners who fail to meet completion requirements may retake the course for $49 within 30 days of reporting

Complaint Policy

Complaints must be submitted in writing within 7 business days of course completion.
Participants will be notified of resolution within 10 business days.
